natural mystic...

somehow it all makes sense
it just is. naturally.
we are remnants of slavery
living in a caribbean paradise

we eat sugar apple or sweetsop
guineps, mangoes, and guavas
sugar cakes, tarts and gizzadas
festival and escoveitch

we drink rum punch, red stripe
ginger beer, sorrel, coconut water
and maybe even some peanut punch
while sailing on the jolly roger

oh yeah, tonight's gonna be a good night
see you at the sound clash dance hall queen
stop. feel the bassline
whine and go dung.

we jam dominoes at the small table
nestled under the flamboyant trees
then snorkle in turquoise waters
amongst tropical fishes and coral reefs

we celebrate slave uprisings,
old year's day, crop over, and carnival
grounation, chant to nyabinghi drums
greet kings and queens in 9 miles

we are a diverse people
who reason in exotic accents
or patois. and somehow, naturally
it all makes perfect sense. seen?

Inspirational Monday: Change equals freedom

Hi, this is Vchelle. On the cruise ship, these waters behind the ship represented the markings of my journey to peace...I thought this very thought...

Just when we are comfortable with our life and the path we are on, we are confronted with change even when we are not ready to change or didn’t expect change. Sometimes we think it’s easier to resist change because of fear. Fear drives us to resist change – fear of the unknowing…

The beautiful thing about our journey through change is that it is also our journey to peace and having peace with “not knowing” is freedom - freedom to love unconditionally – freedom to acknowledge our perceived mistakes – freedom to move past those mistakes – freedom to forgive – freedom to live and freedom to meet like Beings at different crossroads on our journey.

Change is inevitable. Let’s embrace it and don’t look back. Let’s hear the stillness within us and feel the peace that drives – directs – guides us on our journey to freedom. Each and every one of us are here with a beautiful and extraordinary purpose to love, first, ourselves which enables us to love everything in this magnificent and divine Universe. Our journey to peace exemplify freedom!

I’m inspired to be free in peace!

Who are what inspires you?

Thank you Se’Lah for inspiring me in this room that is so necessary for peace! And thank you for allowing me to grace your wonderful presence on your special day! I love you!

Happy Inspirational Monday!

a Rastafarian Prayer...

Princes shall come out of Egypt,
Ethiopia shall stretch forth
her hand unto God. Oh thou God
of Ethiopia, thou God of divine
majesty, thy spirit come within our
hearts to dwell in the path of righteousness.
That the hungry be fed,
the sick nourished, the aged protected,
and the infant cared for. Teach us
love and loyalty as it is in Zion.
Selah.

there's something about raindrops

or just watching it hang aimlessly
from a curved branch. bliss.

Rasta Woman Chronicles: answer me this...

every once in a while, my mind wanders
it goes off to many faraway places
i love thinking. i love reasoning
it's just a favourite pastime
and i can no longer deny it
i love to exercise my brain

*so, with all due respect, maybe you can answer me one burning question that none of my science teachers ever would answer satisfactorily for me. if men landed on the moon 40 years ago today, and technology has undoubtedly become more advanced with time, and men have explored many corners of space in great detail since then, how come they have not returned to the moon since the early '70's? i just need an answer (you science buff's out there)...

at this moment...

at this moment, somewhere out there
there is a child fearfully cowering below
the physical blows of an adult caretaker

at this moment, in a home not too far away
there is a child hoping and praying
that tonight they won't be sexually molested

at this moment, someone is realising
just how blessed they truly are
and decide it's time to help a child in need.

is that person you?

Inspirational Monday: moonwalkers...

do you remember the time
when you and your friends
argued over who did
the moonwalk the best...

girl, that time is now.

t.h.e. s.i.m.p.l.e. t.h.i.n.g.s.

the warm bed where i lay my head
having food to eat when i'm hungry
every breath i am blessed to take.

sound of silence, then
in comes my daughter
marching to the beat of her own drum
phenomenal, unorthodox, brilliant
look mommy, i made this for you
enjoying her adventurous spirit

the infinite beauty of nature
having the most wonderful friends
in the whole wide world
nascar race day
go smoke! (and my boy toys)
so sinfully beautiful.
